Opening this May 28, 2025 at The Theatre at Solaire, HAPHOW is a proudly original Filipino musical that brings together storytelling, music, and movement to reflect something we all long for in today’s fast-paced, noisy world: values that ground us. 

The title HAPHOW may sound playful, but its meaning runs deep. It’s an acronym for six values we often talk about — but rarely see celebrated on a grand stage: Humility, Acceptance, Patience, Honesty, Open-Mindedness, and Willingness. 

Set in the magical forest of Kalinaw, the story follows a community of charming, symbolic insect characters, each one carrying emotional struggles that mirror our own. Whether it’s learning to listen, opening up to change, or standing up for what’s right, HAPHOW turns these lessons into a beautiful, live experience that speaks to the heart. 

“We created HAPHOW because we believe the next generation needs more than just content they need meaning,” shares Ms. MJ Aspacio, the show’s director, playwright, and composer. “We wanted something honest and heartfelt that reminds us, kids and adults alike, that growth is possible when we choose to live with compassion, courage, and intention.” 

Adding even more depth to the production is acclaimed performer Gerald Santos, who plays the role of HAPHOW, a central figure in the story’s emotional arc. Known for his work both on stage and in film, Santos brings passion and sincerity to the role, grounding the show’s message in authenticity. 

Beyond the story, HAPHOW also teaches us something just as timely: the importance of taking care of Mother Nature. The enchanted world of Kalinaw reflects the natural beauty we often take for granted and challenges audiences to reconnect with the earth, each other, and themselves.
